Illustrated letter
First, I found an image of the letter C on google, as my idea was to create a wave using the letter. Next, I printed out the letter and used tracing paper to sketch a wave over it. When I had done that, I scanned the image so that I could upload it onto photoshop. When I had uploaded the image to photoshop, I made a new layer and used a graphics tablet to trace the outline of the wave in blue. I then created another layer and coloured the wave in this medium blue tone. After that I coloured the froth of the wave in a light blue tone. Then, I used the gradient tool to add shadows to create dimension to the wave. I also added highlights and shadows where necessary, such as on the froth.
After that, I added a sunset gradient to the background. I wanted to add clouds to the background and so I created a cloud brush. I did this by finding an image on google of a cloud I liked and then I turned off all my layers, then I clicked Edit>Define brush pre-set and named my brush. I then clicked image>adjustments>levels so that I could control the amount in which the cloud would show when I drew it. Using the brush I created I then drew on some clouds; changing the opacity and size of some to create a more realistic effect. When I had finished all of that I found an image of a person surfing and placed them where I wanted. Then I used the magic wand tool to get rid of the white background that it had, after that, I zoomed in and erased any excess white parts. After this, I traced over the image using the brush tool, I added my onw shadows and details to make it a little different from the original. To finish this piece off, I added the shadow of the person surfing.
The aim was to create an illustrated letter. The images below are the types of pictures that inspired me to do the letter C. I chose this letter as there are a lot of things that you can create or make using it. The idea of the wave was my own personal idea. I made sure to add darker lines and shadows to show where the C is supposed to be.
